Front and back hinge cracks. Bookplate remain stain from previous owner on the front pastedown page. Pencil signature from previous owner on the front free end paper. Dampstain mark to the bottom edges. Excerpt from the dust jacket, Mary Benson went home to South Africa in 1961-62 to collect material and interview the leaders--many of who were her friends--knowing that any one suspected of furthering the aims of the A. N. C. (African National Congress) was liable to imprisonment.
